Launch of IITBAA Nashik Chapter




IIT Bombay Alumni Association and IIT Bombay held a maiden outreach event at Nashik on 30th April 2011 to formally inaugurate the Nashik chapter of the Association. A meeting was held at Express Inn for all local Alumni which had as its theme “Entrepreneurship and IITB alumni”.



The inaugural address will be made by Prof Ali Contractor, Professor.Department of Chemistry, Dean Alumni and Corporate Relations and IITB alum and entrepreneur himself having his own incubator company and a member of IIT Bombay’s Society for innovation and entrepreneurship.


The two keynote speakers at the meeting are both local stalwarts who have achieved distinction in

national and global businesses. Nashik based entrepreneur and IIT B alum Narendra Goliya MD - Rishabh Instruments Pvt. Ltd. who spoke on “Global Opportunities for Indian Businesses” and Mr. Satish Parakh, Managing Director- Ashoka Buildcon Ltd. who highlighted the business opportunities for IIT Bombay alumni with Ashoka Buildcon Group which has business interests in

real estate, construction, education, agriculture, Bio-Green, Power T & D etc.


Speaking at the meeting was also be Vikram Gupta CEO IvyCap Ventures India's first Innovation and Technology VC Fund with an approach to focus on the entrepreneurs with high-quality professional educational backgrounds. This fund will be anchored by a large number of Alumni from all the IITs and would focus on investing in entrepreneurs with professional degrees from premiere institutions, mainly IITs and other top-league institutions.



30 alumni, the oldest from the first graduating class and the youngest from the class of 2007 attended the function with their families.
